Market opens higher with gains in tech, gold
Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Tuesday, hot on the heels of a three-day winning streak, driven by continued gains in tech shares.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened 134 points higher at 21,656, while the Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.4 percent to 5,307 at the opening bell.
Alibaba (9988) opened 2.27 percent higher while Tencent (0700) rose 0.69 percent. Meituan (3690) gained 2.15 percent, JD.com (9618) climbed 1.18 percent, and Xiaomi (1810) edged up 0.57 percent.
Gold stocks also advanced after gold prices hit a new high. Zhaojin Mining Industry (1818) rose 1.5 percent, Shandong Gold Mining (1787) gained 1.47 percent, and Zijin Mining (2899) added 1.24 percent.
