Intel kicks off quantum computer project with Japanese research facility
Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology has partnered with chip giant Intel to develop a next-generation quantum computer, according to Nikkei Asia.
The institute plans to open the quantum computer to Japanese and foreign universities, while enterprises will be able to use it for a fee.
Earlier, Intel posted December-quarter results that beat analysts' low expectations, while its forecast for current-quarter revenue falls short of previous estimates, as the chipmaker grapples with tepid demand for its data center chips and investors wait for a new chief executive to take charge.
